Monday Tuesday Morning Mewsings...
So, sorry for the delay and thanks for sticking with me.
Cat health warning: If you kick a cat, you will develop rheumatism in that leg.
Kitty quotes: "My husband said it was him or the cat...I miss him sometimes."- source unknown
" If cats could talk, they wouldn't."- Nan Porter
" If animals could speak, the dog would be a blundering outspoken fellow, but the cat would have the rare grace of never saying a word too much.- Mark Twain
Meanwhile in Paris...
If you want a lovely place to sit and watch the world go by, take a walk in Luxembourg Gardens:
It is said that Ernest Hemingway used to hunt and strangle by hand the pigeons here.

Some Things For The Week End and Hair Balls And Sticky Paws vs. Fuzzy Hugs And Kitty Kisses...
So they had to shut down the government because Obama Care is bad for the country and would cost thousands of jobs and increase the deficit. But when they shut down the government, thousands of people got furloughed or lost their jobs and it cost 24 BILLION dollars and people aren't buying things because of the uncertainty and all that tanks the economy and that's OK? So I'm giving a big sticky paw right up side the head to... yes I'm naming names this time, Ted Cruz (there I said it!) and his band of malicious minions.
A correction and a sticky paw to...me Noodle...
In my last post I said the name of the sculpture in Paris was The Last Kiss, wrong! In looking through my notes for today I realized that It is actually named The Separation Of A Couple and was sculpted by de Max. Sorry.
A big fuzzy hug to all the wonderful people who have adopted pets during Adopt A Pet Month. And of course those who adopt any other time as well. ( if you haven't picked out your pet yet, what are you waiting for? So many wonderful pets need good homes...
A warm fuzzy hug to Le Café des Chats in Paris. It is not just a café it is also home to twelve cats who roam about as customers go about their business. Visit their website at: www.lecafedeschats.fr
If in Paris, visit them in person at 16 rue Michel le Comte in the 3rd arrondissement.
And also in Paris...
In 2005 they closed La Samaritaine department store. This incredible art deco building had one of the best views of Paris from its roof top restaurant as well as being an amazing artistic structure in itself. It looks as though it is being refurbished and will be opening once again but as what I am not quite sure. This is one of the stairways from within...
Have a great week end!

As promised something Paris related...
One half of the last kiss found in The Montparnasse Cemetery ( Cimetiere du Montparnesse ) in Paris. The woman is blowing a kiss to her husband who is standing to her left weeping. The entire piece is carved in marble and is magnificent and was photographed on Polaroid polopan instant slide film (which is no longer made).

Do you think they would take my mousie?
So, cats and Q-tips... Need I say more?
Florence Nightingale owned more than sixty cats in her life time and often complained of mysterious "stains" on her paperwork.
" The problem with cats is that they get the same exact look whether they see a moth or an ax murderer"- Paula Poundstone
I hope you will forgive this departure from our normal offerings. Today is my humans birthday and she wanted to share a few reflections on life...
We are truly remarkable beings.
Our bones may break but our spirits remain in tact.
We flourish in the face of adversity and at times we throw caution to the wind and jump into life with both feet.
For what would life be without that insatiable human quality to take a chance. To cross that line in the sand. To " boldly go where no man ( or woman ) has gone before." To reach the unreachable star,
think the unthinkable thought, climb the highest mountain and dream the impossible dream.
So, we gather ourselves up and jump over the deep dark cavernous cracks of life that should stop us dead in our tracks..."danger Will Robinson!"
The edge of the cliff is drawing too near, the lake is too deep, the ice too thin, the risk too great, the heart too fragile and the dream too distant.
Yet, we can choose to leap with abandon although everything within us screams STOP!
For those who do, the sun shines a little brighter. The ciaos is a little clearer. The picture is a little sharper. The taste a little truer and the touch a little more intense.
To play it safe is to always wonder "what if?" To regret all of the" if only I had's."
Will you come to the last pages of your life with unresolved chapters? With dreams left unfulfilled to late to change the ending of your story?
Here it is the beginning of another week, a week filled with the promise of possibilities...
What will you do this week? Will you step outside of your comfort zone?
Take a big deep breath and walk toward where you want to be and what you want to do...
I was always afraid to fly. One day I just took a giant leap of faith and got on a plane. My life has never been the same!
Change is scary and it is easier to put it off until tomorrow and tomorrow and tomorrow...
Take a chance, leap!
Back to Paris next post,

SOMETHINGS FOR THE WEEKEND:Did you know that in 1888 a farmer in Egypt found an ancient cemetery containing 10,000 mummified cats? They ended up being used for fertilizer! As they say; ashes to ashes.
" Cats are intended to teach us that not everything in nature has a purpose"- Garrison Keillor
" One of the oldest human needs is to have someone to wonder where you are when you don't come home at night"- Margret Mead, on cats.
" It is a very inconvenient habit of kittens that whatever you say to them, they always purr." Lewis Carroll
On a political note:
A fuzzy hug and a kitty kiss to the CEO of Starbucks for taking another stand ( the second in the past couple of months!) Telling congress to " do the right thing!" and encouraging patrons to sign a petition telling congress to get their act together and stop the shut down and extend the debt ceiling... you know like we always have in the past no matter who was in control of the White House, senate and congress. "Hey, you guys work for us remember?"
Sign the petition at www.starbucks.com
Gargoyles: They watch over the city... here is just one from the top of the bell tower of Notre Dame Cathedral. To get here you must climb a very narrow stairway ascending 270ft and consisting of 384 stairs all spiraling upwards in a stairwell that will only accommodate one person at a time. Be warned. It's hard even for someone who has a regular cardio regime. But the view is worth every labored breath!
Have a wonderful week end everybody!

Something to share on Thursday...There was a beautiful book of fairy tale's that was first published in 1958 by Golden Press Inc.. The illustrations are absolutely amazing and several of them include cats. I think beautiful things deserve to be shared and thus I share with you an illustration from The Fairy Tale Book, translated by Marie Ponsot and illustrated by Adrienne Segur, (very French to go along with the whole Paris thing...) check out the amazing detail!

Oh what pretty kitty paws!
It's time for some middle of the week fuzzy hugs and kitty kisses:
A bunch of fuzzy hugs to Barry Black the Senate Chaplin who seems to be the only voice of reason and compassion in Washington these days.
His words in the opening prayer each day are filled with hope and frustration at a government run amuck.
Celebrate and big kitty kisses to girls! Today is The International Day Of The Girl.
And as for Paris...
Take a walk along the Seine with Notre Dame at your back and the church bells tolling at six as the sun begins to set!

MONDAY MORNING MEWSINGS...It's Monday and as you can probably tell it was hard to get out of bed this morning. Never the less I will do my very best to amuse and inform you.
Did you know that in Cresskill, New Jersey cats must wear three bells on their collar to warn birds of their whereabouts?
In Natchez, Mississippi cats can not drink beer
And, in Zion, Illinois it is illegal for anyone to give lighted cigars to cats, dogs or other domestic pets.
Now you know...
Thoughts on Congress's behavior:
Will someone please send these children to the principals office! If they can't behave then they need to be suspended and sent home!
Real working people don't have time for their shenanigan's!
A great web site to visit: www.cfainc.org for all things cat.
What can I say. Cats love birds! We love to watch them, stalk them and dream of catching them...
and so for my Paris part of the post I give you " the bird man of Notre Dame " this lovely man feeds the pigeons at Notre Dame church in Paris. He does it with spare change given to him by tourists.
Here is the part a cat sees...
Have a great week!

SOMETHING FOR THE WEEKEND + HAIR BALLS AND STICKY PAWS vs. FUZZY HUGS AND KITTY KISSES:
A cat is a lion in a jungle of small bushes -
I love my cat because I love my home and little by little she becomes its visible soul -
After dark, all cats are leopards - African proverb
NOODLES THOUGHT FOR THE DAY:
" Thumbs, if only I had thumbs. I could get into a lot more trouble."
Here come the sticky paws and kitty kisses:
A great big sticky paw right on the head to our elected officials in Washington. If you don't do the work you shouldn't get paid... you know like the rest of us!
A kitty kiss to the Capital Police and other personnel for doing their jobs yesterday even though they might not get paid due to the shut down those they were there to protect initiated.
A sticky paw to the local library and book stores for the tiny, tiny sections on cats! There are dozens of dog books and magazines! Come on cat people, time to saturate the market on behalf of cats! Whose with me?
AND NOW SOMETHING ABOUT PARIS...
Although we have photographs of the street, this post card is so beautifully done I thought it conveyed the scene much better.
Have a great weekend!

OCTOBER Le PARIS...
While we all await the fate of what congress has in store for us in the coming months, I will be showing my artistic and cultural side by incorporating Paris somewhere into each of my posts. Whether it is a photograph, an interesting fact about Paris or.... I guess you will only find out by stopping by!
Here is something to entice you...
